dubstepped,
I absolutely loved the book, hated the movie...
There were two different 1984 movies that I recall. Maybe you'll like the other one.

this looks interesting!!
a modern take on orwell's classic 1984.. we all have found the comparison of orwell's book to witness life to be fascinating, so this could be a great play to see!.

i just found out yesterday that my son who is less than a year out of treatment for leukemia has adhd caused by the chemo that saved his life.
does anyone here have any experience with this?
primarily looking for books or resources that helped you or your loved ones..
I cannot speak from experience but I've heard that some strains of medical marijuana can assist with ADHD as well as relieve pain caused by cancer and lack of appetite caused by chemo. It would be a Sativa strain (Not Indica) and it could be bought as tincture. A tincture is a liquid form of the medication that comes in a little bottle that has an eye dropper. It can give a precise dose. No smoking required. Google it and you should come up with a wealth of information on the subject.
I too have ADD and am just beginning to experiment with medical marijuana to see what works best. If I find a good strain (there are hundreds) I'll pm you. Even without the ADD issues it would still be a good idea to take medical marijuana by any cancer or post cancer patient.
There are non-psychoactive strains of marijuana that have been bred just to ease pain but without the high. Charlotte's Web is one of those strains. That particular strain does not do anything for ADD though.
Check this out for starters: https://www.leafly.com/news/strains-products/best-cannabis-strains-for-focus-and-addadhd.
PS: I would stay away from "conventional" medications, like Adderall which are highly addictive.
...would you choose to ban the jw religion?.
if you wouldn't ban them what, if any, changes would you force upon them?.
The reason religious institutions are not taxed in the U.S. is because of mutual arrangement that was made between the state and church.
Government would not tax them because they can use that power to favor one religion over another. The church in turn would not engage in political affairs. It's part of the separation of church and state. If you remove one the other will fail.

Finkelstein,
I would enforced a compassionate deprogramming with information to what has intrinsically happened to them and to the reasons why.
I know where you're coming from Fink but that's still too authoritarian for me. The only thing I would do is to broadcast in public TV everything the public needs know about the religions/organizations they're in or thinking of getting in.
Broadcasting the ARC videos and others on public TV would be a fantastic way of reaching the public and would demoralize many JWs.

Speaking as an atheist I would neither ban nor regulate any religion. Once somebody starts playing that game there begins a slippery slope down to a dictatorship.
so when i think of the word heaven.
i see angels, clouds and harp players.
but in reality when we think about it, for thousands of years it's been occupied by the devil himself and his demons.
By your title I thought that heaven's cleaning lady was on strike.
does this make any sense whatsoever ?
isnt jesus christ the king ?why the need for 144000 king priests to help him ?.
is he not up for the job?
Smiddy,
Why the need for 144000 imperfect humans to Rule with Christ Jesus for 1000 years ?
Presumably they won't be imperfect. Redundant yes, but anyone that is resurrected to heaven should obviously be made perfect.

Perry,
Millions of church-age saints (believers during the times of the gentiles) will have already been raptured, their bodies resurrected and united with their souls. They will have bodies exactly like the one that Jesus had after his resurrection..... able to thrive in heaven and on earth, doubtless multi-dimensional and very powerful. (Higher than the angels)
Serious question Perry: Will immortal bodies eat food? Even if they don't need to?
hey all,.
we have purchased a bunch of great books recently, and one of them is from author kyria abrahams called "i'm perfect, you're doomed".
i'm only 5 chapters in at this stage, but i just have to share that this is a great read!.
Kyria actually visited this site and held a competition amongst the posters with a copy of her book as the prize. She wanted to see which poster had the most sordid experience they witnessed as a JW. I won't bother describing what the winner related.
i had an upbringing in the truth standard preached , gave talks and did what many kids within the organization did in thier adolesence .until the day in the summer of my conversion from elementary to junior high ivisited my fellow friend from the hall at his home like i normally did..i discover he had left on an outing to magic mountain the sister his mother offered me a "cold cup of coffee beverage" to refresh me which ended up being a combination of alchol and sedatives i lwas in and out of conciseness finally i recall her taking me a shower naked .
i told my mother immidiatley she was angered with me she said i should of been like joseph and ran like he did in the bilical example.well joseph was not sedated deliberately .
this resulted in elders disfellowshipped publicly on saturday watchtower study my name was read outloud i front of all dear brothers to abstain contact from me and i wasnt even baptized me.the age of 13 for being sexually molested as a minor by an adult member of the jehovah's wittiness congregation in california we attended.
She might need to learn how to go back to the top.
